Let’s share something personal,
Something I doubt you would know.
Here are 6 things I can do really well!
I remember to buy fresh produce,
Then I forget to eat it.
It all started with good intentions.
I’ll repeat your name a million times,
But my brain won’t let it stick,
I hate this one most of all.
Tossing out the cooking directions,
Convinced I’ll remember,
Then digging through trash to find them again.
Making plans to go have lunch,
Then immediately wanting to cancel.
It’s not you, I swear it’s just me.
A repetitive cycle of restarting the dryer,
Because now the laundry’s wrinkled.
Or if I remember, in a basket it waits,
Then guess what? Wrinkles.
Determining how much sleep I’ll get,
If I fall asleep right now.
Most times I end up not actually sleeping.
And there you have it,
A little about me, some relatable, personal quirks.
I spent my first 32 years undiagnosed,
Only realizing it after watching my kids.
Executive dysfunction still toys with me,
Though now, most days are better than others.
